Sclerotherapy — Spider Vein Treatment Houston
Spider and varicose veins are often caused when the valves in the veins are not pushing blood back to the heart properly. As a result, the blood can begin to pool up. These veins can be embarrassing, making people self-conscious about wearing certain clothes. Sclerotherapy is a non-surgical procedure that can help eliminate this unsightly condition.
In sclerotherapy, a solution is injected with a tiny needle into the visible veins. This causes inflammation, and the vein walls will collapse soon after. The varicose veins gradually dissolve over several weeks and eventually disappear completely.
Some patients experience a slight to moderate burning sensation during the injection process and immediately afterwards. However, this minor discomfort disappears in just a few seconds. It’s not uncommon for the treated area to experience some slight bruising. This too eventually disappears within a couple of days.
Unlike laser vein therapy, sclerotherapy closes the varicose veins under the skin. This makes recurrence in those treated areas far less likely.
A few treatments are usually required in order for most patients to achieve optimal results. These sessions should be spaced out at about six-to-eight-week intervals.
