Post Breast Surgery Massage Instructions
A week after your surgery your able start daily breast massages. We recommend you do these for the next 3 months approximately 3-4 times a day for 5 mins. The massage is important mainly to help prevent capsule by softening the implant and to help relax the skin. This is gentle massaging and not supposed to painful. There are 3 different types of massages. Compression– Take one hand to help support your breast and do the massage with the other. Take the palm of your hand and find the center of the implant. Gently press towards your chest for 2 counts. Guide out your hand and repeat. Do the same with the other breast. Kneading– Take one hand to help support your breast and do the massage with the other. This massage requires you to gently squeeze your breast in place. Be sure you cover all the sides. Cleavage– Take the outer side of each breast with your hands and bring your breasts together as if trying to create cleavage. Hold in place for 2 counts and release by guiding out your hands. Repeat. *We will demonstrate how to do each of the massages at your first post-operative appointment.
