CryoPen is a simple and effective way to permanently remove imperfections on the skin. Treatment is fast, minimally invasive, and requires virtually no downtime for recovery. The CyroPen can quickly and accurately remove unwanted skin lesions, leaving your skin smooth and flawless.
What does CryoPen do?
CryoPen is one of the least invasive and most accurate ways to treat a wide range of superficial skin lesions, including:
- skin tags
- age spots
- sun spots
- warts
- moles
- milia (a cluster of small, white bumps)
- birthmarks
- cherry angiomas (raised red bumps)
How does CryoPen work?
CryoPen is a hand-held medical device that uses extreme cold to rapidly change the temperature of the skin and remove unwanted skin lesions from the epidermis (top layer of skin). The science behind CryoPen is amazingly simple.
Cells begin to die at minus 20 degrees Celsius. The tip of CryoPen can achieve temperatures as low as minus 89 degrees Celsius, which is far colder than the minimum freezing temperature needed to kill cells.
It's fast, and it works: CryoPen.
CryoPen delivers a high-pressured, steady stream of nitrous oxide to the treatment area to achieve this drastic temperature drop. The nitrous oxide is aimed directly onto the lesion for a period of time, based on the size and type of lesion. Maintaining this extremely low temperature causes the cells to freeze and rupture, ultimately killing the cells and eliminating the unwanted skin lesion. Because CryoPen precisely applies nitrous oxide to only the lesion being treated, surrounding tissues aren’t damaged.
Non-invasive freezing to resolve skin flaws
The non-invasive, precise nature of CryoPen allows it to be used on adults and children of all skin types. In addition, CryoPen can be used on nearly any part of the body, exercising caution in the delicate region around the eye or in or near the hairline where it could damage hair follicles. Most results are long-lasting, achieved with only one or two treatments.
The day of your CryoPen treatment – what is it like?
Once you decide that CryoPen is right for you, you can expect a quick, simple and virtually pain-free treatment experience. First, the treatment area will be cleaned. Because this treatment is non-invasive, no numbing shots or topical numbing agents are necessary.
Is there any recovery time with CryoPen?
Immediately following your CryoPen treatment, the lesion will look white and you may feel a mild stinging sensation. Both are temporary and should dissipate quickly. Over the next few days, the lesion may be sore and could ooze or form a blister. Leave it unbandaged as fresh air promotes faster healing.
Within approximately one week, a scab will form, causing the area to feel tight or itchy. Resist the urge to pick or scratch at the site, as this could cause scarring, infection, or increased healing time. The scab will slough off over the next few weeks. Depending on the size and severity of the lesion, it can take one to four weeks for it to heal.
The healing process will leave behind new skin that may be lighter or darker than the rest of your skin. This is completely normal, and within two to six months, your normal pigmentation will return to the treated area. Protect your healing skin by wearing sunblock and following a healthy skin care regimen.
What are the benefits of CryoPen?
CryoPen is a safe and straightforward treatment, easy to experience, and that offers many benefits, including:
- Does not require the use of anesthesia, numbing shots or topical numbing agents.
- The treatment is quick – just a few seconds are needed for effective, lasting removal of superficial imperfections.
- CryoPen doesn’t cut the skin or require stitches, resulting in less trauma to your skin and less chance for complications.
- CryoPen is precise, so it will only affect the lesion being treated and will not harm surrounding tissues.
- There is less recovery time required with CryoPen, as compared to other lesion removal treatments (electrocautery, cold knife, or laser).
- Fast recovery allows you to resume your normal activities immediately after being treated.
- Results typically last a lifetime, requiring only one or two treatments, making CryoPen an affordable, effective treatment for minor skin lesions.
